Frequently Asked Questions

What is a "Visit"?
A Visit is one instance of a NEMO mechanic repairing your bike in-person at your chosen location. We can typically perform more than one repair from our menu during a single Visit, as long as we do not exceed the general timeframe of about 45 minutes.
What if I have more than one bike for you to work on?
Yes — book through our multi-bike form (linked in the pricing section above).
Do you offer on-demand repairs?
Yes, but only for select employer and TMA partners. For the general public, the fastest option is the next open slot in the booking form above.
Can I get a repair outside of the repair menu?
Probably not. While there are times we make exceptions for unusual repairs that we are capable of fixing, the repair menu exists because not all repairs are feasible in a mobile setting. Things like disc brake bleeds, bottom bracket repair or complete wheel truing can require clean indoor settings, large equipment or longer timelines. If you are not sure whether your repair applies, message us with photos at 857-847-6366.
Will NEMO fix my ebike?
Most likely, yes. We work on all the major brands. If you have any questions send us a message with a picture of your bike and we can let you know if there will be any issue. Learn more about our e-bike and cargo bike repair service.
When do I get charged?
Our mechanics carry point-of-sale systems and will charge for labor and parts at the completion of the visit.
How do I pay for parts?
If your bike needs new parts (e.g. new tire, chain, brake pads, etc.) then you can pay for those separately at the time of the repair. Our mechanics accept all major credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Unfortunately, we do not carry cash.
Does NEMO offer tune-ups?
In short, no. We offer safety checks that are essentially 15 min tune-ups. These should not be substituted for an annual comprehensive overhaul.
Will my employer cover my costs?
Check out our programs page to see if your employer has a program with us directly or indirectly through a local TMA.
What repairs can't you do on-site?
Some repairs require a clean shop environment, specialized tools, or more time than a mobile visit allows. These include hydraulic disc brake bleeds, bottom bracket replacement, complete wheel truing, headset overhauls, and full drivetrain rebuilds. If you're not sure, text us a photo at 857-847-6366 and we'll tell you honestly whether we can help.
Can my employer offer NEMO bike repair as an employee benefit?
Yes — we work with employers, universities, and Transportation Management Associations (TMAs) across Greater Boston to offer on-site repair programs and roadside assistance as a commuter benefit. Visit our employers page to learn more or book a call.
