What we don’t do

NEMO is mobile repair, so a few jobs are out of scope. Please review the list below before booking.

Needs a shop

These need a clean space, a workstand, big equipment, or more time than a house call allows.

  • Hydraulic brake bleeds
  • Wheel building, rebuilds & bent rims
  • Bottom bracket replacement
  • Headset overhauls
  • Full drivetrain rebuilds
  • Internally routed cables
  • Tubeless setup & sealant
  • Seized or rusted-solid parts

E-bike electrical repairs

We do basic e-bike diagnostics (error codes, display and controller troubleshooting). Actual electrical repairs go back to the maker or a dealer.

  • Battery or motor replacement
  • Battery connection repair
  • Connector & wiring repair
  • Sensor alignment
  • Deep electrical diagnosis

We don't fix scooters or mopeds

NEMO is bikes, e-bikes, and cargo bikes only.

  • Scooters (electric or kick)
  • Mopeds & gas-powered vehicles
  • Anything that isn't a bike

The $80 consult fee: if we come out and genuinely can’t make any repair, that’s all you pay, and you still get a hands-on diagnosis and a clear next step. The more you tell us up front, in the signup form or by text, the better we can come ready to fix it on the spot.

We come to you — home, office, or roadside

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a "Visit"?
A Visit is one instance of a NEMO mechanic repairing your bike in-person at your chosen location. We can typically perform more than one repair from our menu during a single Visit, as long as we do not exceed the general timeframe of about 45 minutes.
What if I have more than one bike for you to work on?
Yes — book through our multi-bike form (linked in the pricing section above).
Do you offer on-demand repairs?
Yes, but only for select employer and TMA partners. For the general public, the fastest option is the next open slot in the booking form above.
Will NEMO fix my ebike?
Most likely, yes. We work on all the major brands. We handle the mechanical side (brakes, tires, drivetrain) plus basic electrical diagnostics — error codes and display/controller troubleshooting. Deeper electrical work (battery or motor replacement, wiring repair, sensor alignment) goes back to the maker or a dealer. Send us a picture of your bike if you have questions. Learn more about our e-bike and cargo bike repair service.
When do I get charged?
Our mechanics carry point-of-sale systems and will charge for labor and parts at the completion of the visit.
How do I pay for parts?
If your bike needs new parts (e.g. new tire, chain, brake pads, etc.) then you can pay for those separately at the time of the repair. Our mechanics accept all major credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Unfortunately, we do not carry cash.
Does NEMO offer tune-ups?
In short, no. We offer safety checks that are essentially 15 min tune-ups. These should not be substituted for an annual comprehensive overhaul.
Will my employer cover my costs?
Check out our programs page to see if your employer has a program with us directly or indirectly through a local TMA.
What repairs can't you do on-site?
The full list is in the what we don't do section above. The big ones: hydraulic brake bleeds, wheel builds, e-bike electrical repairs, and anything that isn't a bike. Not sure about yours? Text a photo to 857-847-6366 and we'll tell you straight.
What if you come out and can't fix my bike?
If we come out and genuinely can't make any repair to your bike, whether it needs a shop or a part we don't stock, you pay a flat $80 consult fee for the trip and a hands-on diagnosis, and we'll tell you exactly what your bike needs and where to take it. The fee only applies when we can't do anything at all. The more you tell us up front, in the signup form or when you text us at 857-847-6366, the better we can come ready to fix it on the spot.
Can my employer offer NEMO bike repair as an employee benefit?
Yes — we work with employers, universities, and Transportation Management Associations (TMAs) across Greater Boston to offer on-site repair programs and roadside assistance as a commuter benefit. Visit our employers page to learn more or book a call.
